PHASE NINE:
AIR SEALING

The Marvin window installation is complete. A combination of casements, awnings, and double hung windows in a variety of designs create the traditional look of this Tudor house. Each window is double insulated low E glass with argon gas to provide high performance, helping to make this house efficient and comfortable

Prior to the application of the insulation, Boracare non-toxic termite treatment is applied by Arrow Exterminators to the floor framing and the bottom section of the first floor walls. This healthy alternative to traditional pest control assures a healthy indoor environment while protecting the house from damage. Caulk and spray foam have been applied to the joints between framing
members and between the wall framing and floor decking, assuring a comprehensive air sealed building envelope.

Icynene spray foam insulation is installed along the entire roofline of the house creates a sealed and conditioned attic area. This method allows for reducing the size of the HVAC system as the air handler and ducts are all within the conditioned space.

Icynene spray foam fills the wall cavities completely, providing a comprehensive air sealing and insulation which creates a continuous building envelope around the entire structure.

The perimeter floor band, or rim joist, is insulated with Icynene spray foam, eliminating the possibility of air leakage in this vulnerable area.

Icynene foam is trimmed to fit where drywall is to e installed on the rafters and wall studs.

Titebond solvent-free drywall adhesive is applied to the joists and studs reducing the possibility of racks and nail pops in the finished surface while
keeping the interior of the house and the work area free from toxic chemicals.
